Repair Your Smile in One Visit With Same Day CEREC Dental Crowns

(Chairside Economical Restorations with Esthetic Ceramics)

One of the most technological advances in dentistry in the last several decades is CEREC, which creates computer-designed, life-like porcelain restorations in one visit to our office. There is over two decades of clinical research and experience that supports CEREC technology. In many cases, we can conserve healthy tooth structure that would have had to be removed if the crown was created with CEREC ceramic onlays instead.
In 2002, Dr. Craybas and Dr. Crumb invested in the CEREC system for our office, which has provided great benefits for our patients who appreciate the natural beauty and comfort of enamel-like restorations made from metal-free, biocompatible porcelain. CEREC can be used for inlays, onlays, partial and full crowns, and veneers. With this conservative technique, the unsightly old mercury/silver filling and fractured tooth structure is removed, preserving healthy tooth structure. The tooth is then optically scanned, and the image is sent to our Computer-Aided Design computer. You can actually watch us design your new restoration on a computer monitor right before your eyes!
Next, the design is sent wirelessly back to our lab to the computer-aided milling machine. CEREC creates an extremely precise restoration, also while you watch. Two diamond burs work simultaneously to mill the restoration out of a solid block of ceramic material. This porcelain has the same hardness as enamel and expands and contracts with hot and cold just like enamel does. After about fifteen minutes of milling, your restoration is brought back chair side, where it is fitted to your tooth. Finally, we bond the newly milled restoration to the tooth by using state-of-the-art adhesive dentistry. The result is a beautiful, durable restoration, which is the closest thing to putting enamel back on your tooth. With CEREC restorations, there is no need to take impressions to send to the lab, and since it is completed in one appointment, there are no temporaries to worry about! The CEREC precise fitting restoration allows us to preserve and strengthen healthy tooth structure economically without wasting your precious time.
