Thanksgiving allows a focus on everything to be grateful for, including your loved ones around you. But be real, everyone looks forward to this holiday for the indulgence! That said, it\u2019s important not to completely give up on your oral health just because the gravy is flowing. Read on to learn how to protect your smile by avoiding these top 5 dental hazards on the big day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">#1. Sugar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eating lots of sugar is one of the quickest ways to get a cavity! You may see sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, carrot souffle, sugary drinks, pies, and other sweet items on the Thanksgiving table. However, it\u2019s in your best interest to limit your consumption of these treats. If you do indulge, just make sure you have some water handy to wash it all down and brush your teeth afterward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">#2. Wine<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When it\u2019s the holiday, it\u2019s all about smiling. However, your beautiful, white teeth are at risk of getting stained if you\u2019re not careful. Red wine and non-alcoholic juice beverages can easily cause stains and discoloration if you\u2019re not careful. Dentists recommend limiting your drinks, however you can also keep water nearby to wash away liquids that are rich in color, protecting your smile in the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">#3. Hard or Sharp Foods<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sweet foods can lead to discreet damage, but don\u2019t forget about hard or sharp items that can cause immediate pain. Sticky Foods<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Candied pecans, caramel, marshmallows, and other sticky foods are risky for your dental health because they stay in contact with your teeth for long periods of time.
