Patient Experience
Dental Insurance
Dental insurance can be helpful to patients in defraying the costs when paying for
dental treatment. Insurance, however, can sometimes be a double-edged sword and it is
important for consumers to investigate what plans will keep them and their families
smiling in the future. The dentist, not the insurance company, is trained in diagnosing
and treating dental disease. Dr. Crumb and Dr. Craybas will work with you to maximize
your insurance coverage but we will not compromise your dental health by only doing what
your insurance company feels is the least costly alternative treatment.
The down side of dental insurance is that the coverage most likely will only pay a
percentage of the costs of your dental treatment. There are frequently conditions in
dental insurance contracts that limit the insurance company's liability, such as,
deductibles, annual maximums, co-insurance clauses, non-covered services, coordination
of benefits and alternative treatment payments, etc. Dental insurance is designed to
help you pay for the dental services that you need, not to determine the care that you
need.
